Ever since Takara-Tomy unveiled their Japanese market exclusive Deluxe class Groove for their Unite Warriors Defensor set, fans outside of Japan have been asking “will we be getting that”?
The Hasbro Transformers website seems to be adding weight to the probability of an eventual US outing for Groove. We’d previously heard it was not impossible for this toy to make it to the US – and the official Transformers website has put up a listing of the Protectobots / Defensor with Groove as a part of the main team, and Rook excluded from the lineup.
Before you get your hopes up too much, you might want to note that the toy picture of Defensor does show Rook in the spot where they say Groove goes – and the artwork of Groove is very much Generation 1 Groove, not Takara-Tomy’s new design. While the website does call out Groove as a “deluxe”, this could be an error, inspired by Groove’s original role in the Generation 1 team.
Or it could be a portent that we might see Groove – the deluxe class one – outside of Japan at some point.
